Frequently Asked Questions

Auto Experts is an independent automotive advisory service designed to help individuals and businesses make better-informed decisions when buying, selling, inspecting, valuing or managing vehicles.

We provide practical automotive expertise without the pressure of a dealership sales environment. Our services range from quick advice and vehicle comparisons through to inspections, negotiations, fleet assistance and motor insurance claims support.

Yes. Our New & Used Car Buying Advice service helps you narrow down suitable vehicles based on your budget, intended use, running costs, reliability, resale value and other important considerations.

Rather than simply recommending a particular model, we explain the advantages and disadvantages so you can make an informed decision.

For customers who simply need advice, we offer consultations in convenient time blocks.

Service charges:

Consultation fee:

  • 15-minute Quick Advice $29

  • 30-minute Consultation $49

  • 60-minute Consultation $89

  • Additional 15 minutes block $25

You can use your consultation to discuss almost any automotive matter, including buying a vehicle, selling, pricing, negotiating, repair quotations, insurance claims, registration issues or comparing vehicles.

Additional Report fee (where is applicable)

  • Valuation Report (valid 21 days) $55 per vehicle.

  • Vehicle title check report by Auto Experts $ 39 per vehicle.

  • Multiple vehicle comparison chart report (up to 2 vehicles) $49 with option to add another vehicle price at $19 per vehicle

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Customers should know the applicable Auto Experts service fee before proceeding.

Some services may involve separate third-party expenses such as vehicle-history searches, government fees, travel, specialist inspections or engineering certificates. Where known, these should be explained before proceeding.

Yes. Our Vehicle Valuation & Market Insights service reviews current market conditions and comparable vehicles to provide an independent indication of market value.

This can be useful when buying, selling, negotiating a trade-in, reviewing an insurance value or managing fleet vehicles.

Standard fee: $55 per vehicle online valuation report (valid for 21 days). More complex, rare, prestige or classic vehicles can be quoted individually.

Yes. Our Buying Price Analysis goes beyond simply looking at the advertised price.

We can consider the vehicle’s age, kilometres, specification, condition information supplied, comparable listings and general market position to determine whether the asking price appears competitive.

We can also suggest an appropriate negotiation range.

Yes. Our Vehicle Title & History Summary Check can help identify important information that should be considered before purchasing a used vehicle.

We can review available vehicle history data information and explain the results in plain English so you understand what may require further investigation.

Single enquiry charge: $39 per vehicle and per report provided by Auto Experts.

Note: A history check should not be treated as a substitute for a physical pre-purchase inspection and price excludes any consultation fee, where is applicable.

Yes. Our Pre-Purchase Vehicle Inspection service provides an independent assessment of the vehicle before you commit to purchasing it.

Our comprehensive inspection includes:

  • Exterior and interior general condition

  • Evidence of previous body and paint observations, where reasonably identifiable.

  • Road test where permitted and other relevant areas

  • Vehicle diagnostic scanning with latest scanner tool and check for warning lights

  • Registration and title information

  • Service-history review

  • Upcoming maintenance observations and check for any visible mechanical wear and tear or where it failed.

  • Market value and buying-price assessment

We are not a licensed mechanical repair workshop and our service is not a mechanical inspection. We do not dismantle components or guarantee the internal condition of the engine, transmission or other mechanical components. Where appropriate, we may recommend an independent licensed mechanical inspection.

Inspection Price: starts from $199 per vehicle for small to medium hatch or sedan, $249 for SUV, 4WD or Utility or Basic Van. Price based within 10 km of Sydney metro area from Sydney CBD location and inspection requirements are acceptable.

Additional Travel charges may apply outside our standard service area charged at $6.50 per km, which covers for fuel and tolls charges incurred.

Yes. With our Purchase Negotiation Assistance, Auto Experts can help you determine an appropriate offer and assist with negotiating the purchase.

Depending on the service selected, we can either coach you through the negotiation or communicate with the seller or dealership on your behalf.

We can also shop the deal around for you on request.

Suggested charges: from $199 per vehicle.

A more comprehensive Buyer’s Advocate package involving research, valuation and negotiation could start from approximately $299.

We don’t guarantee a particular discount because the final selling price remains at the seller’s discretion.

Success Fee: If we successfully negotiate and secure the purchase or sale of the vehicle, we charge 5% of the final agreed vehicle price. The standard Negotiation Assistance fee will then be waived, so you will not pay both fees.

Yes. Our New & Used Vehicle Comparison service is ideal if you’re deciding between several cars.

We can compare areas such as specifications, value for money, practicality, ownership considerations, depreciation, equipment and suitability for your intended use.

Suggested fees: 2 vehicles: $49 + Optional to add another vehicle for $19 per vehicle.

Yes. Our Vehicle Selling & Pricing Advice service can help determine an appropriate asking price, review comparable vehicles and recommend how your vehicle should be positioned in the market.

We can also advise on presentation, advertising strategy and negotiation.

'Auto Experts’ primary role is to provide independent automotive advice and assistance.

Where we assist with purchasing, negotiation or sourcing, we’ll clearly explain the scope of our involvement and any applicable fees before commencing work.

Are you connected to a particular dealership or manufacturer?

No. The purpose of Auto Experts is to provide customers with independent automotive guidance rather than advice driven by the need to sell a particular vehicle.

Where any commercial relationship or referral arrangement exists that could be relevant to a recommendation, it will be disclosed to the customer.

Yes. We offer Fleet Acquisition & Disposal and Fleet Management Advisory services for businesses requiring independent automotive expertise.

Services can include vehicle selection, acquisition strategy, replacement planning, valuations, disposal recommendations and general fleet cost analysis.

Because business requirements vary considerably, fleet services are generally quoted individually.

Yes. If you’ve received a repair quotation and aren’t sure whether the pricing or recommended work appears reasonable, our Parts & Repair Cost Comparison service can provide an independent second opinion.

We can compare supplied quotations, parts options and typical repair considerations.

Yes. Our Motor Insurance Claims Assistance service helps customers understand and navigate the vehicle-related aspects of a claim.

We can assist with matters such as repair quotations, vehicle damage discussions, market valuations, total-loss valuations and communications concerning vehicle repairs or replacement.

Complex matters are quoted according to the work required.

Auto Experts is an automotive advisory service and does not replace legal, financial or insurance advice where those professional services are required.

Can you assist if another driver caused the accident?

Yes. Our At-Fault & Non-At-Fault Claims Support service can help you understand the practical process following an accident and assist with vehicle-related documentation and communications.

Suggested fee: from $99, depending on the complexity of the matter.

Yes. Our Vehicle Registration & Compliance Advisory service can help you understand registration processes, vehicle documentation and potential compliance requirements.

Where specialist certification, engineering approval or government inspection is required, we can help identify the appropriate next step.

Government, inspection, engineering and third-party charges are separate.

For online and telephone consultations, payment should generally be made when booking the service.

For inspections or larger assignments, Auto Experts can provide the price or quotation before work begins.

No additional work should be undertaken without the customer’s approval where it will result in an additional charge.

That’s exactly what the 15-Minute Quick Advice service is designed for.

For $29, customers can speak with an Auto Expert about a specific automotive question without paying for a full consultation.

This could become one of the strongest entry-level services on your website because it makes professional automotive advice accessible without asking the customer to commit to a large fee.

1. About Auto Experts

Auto Experts provides independent automotive information, professional opinions and advisory services based on automotive industry knowledge, experience, available information and, where applicable, vehicle inspections or market research.

Our services may include new and used vehicle buying advice, vehicle valuations and market insights, buying-price analysis, vehicle history summaries, vehicle comparisons, vehicle condition reports, pre-purchase inspections, negotiation assistance, selling and pricing advice, fleet advisory services, motor claims assistance, registration and compliance guidance and parts or repair cost comparisons.

The precise scope of a service is the service description or quotation accepted by the customer.

2. Professional Automotive Advice

Our advice represents our professional automotive opinion based on the information reasonably available to us at the time.

Vehicle prices, market conditions, mechanical conditions, repair costs, availability and other automotive information can change. An opinion or valuation therefore does not guarantee a future sale price, purchase price, trade-in value, repair outcome or vehicle performance.

Customers remain responsible for their final purchasing, selling, repair and other vehicle-related decisions.

3. No Legal, Financial or Accounting Advice

Auto Experts provides automotive advisory services only.

Information provided through our website or services is not intended to constitute legal, financial, accounting, taxation or other regulated professional advice.

Auto Experts does not provide legal, accounting, taxation or financial advice and does not represent itself as qualified to provide those services.

Where a matter involves legal rights, contracts, taxation, financial matters, insurance coverage or another regulated professional matter, you should obtain independent advice from an appropriately qualified professional.

4. Vehicle Inspections and Condition Reports

Where we conduct an inspection, it represents the observable condition of the vehicle within the scope of the inspection at the particular time and location.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, an inspection is not a dismantling, engineering certification or comprehensive mechanical diagnosis and cannot guarantee that a vehicle is free from hidden, intermittent or subsequently developing faults.

Components or areas that cannot reasonably be accessed or inspected may not form part of the assessment.

5. Vehicle History and Third-Party Information

Vehicle-history, title, registration, specification, market and similar information may be obtained from third-party databases or information providers.

We take reasonable care when interpreting this information but cannot guarantee that third-party information is complete, current or error-free.

Where appropriate, customers should conduct additional enquiries before purchasing a vehicle.

6. Valuations and Market Analysis

Vehicle valuations and pricing recommendations are professional opinions rather than guaranteed sale or purchase prices.

Actual values may vary because of condition, kilometres, specification, location, demand, market movements, vehicle history, modifications and individual buyer or seller circumstances.

7. Negotiation Assistance

Where Auto Experts assists with negotiating a vehicle purchase or sale, we cannot guarantee that a seller, dealer or purchaser will accept a particular offer or achieve a particular financial result.

The final decision to enter into any transaction remains with the customer.

8. Insurance Claims Assistance

Auto Experts may provide automotive assistance relating to motor vehicle claims, including vehicle-related documentation, valuations, repair quotations and general claims assistance.

We do not determine insurance coverage or provide legal advice concerning an insurance policy. Coverage decisions remain with the relevant insurer and are subject to the applicable policy and law.

9. Registration and Compliance Advice

Registration and vehicle-compliance information provided by Auto Experts is based on information available at the time and our automotive experience.

Final registration, certification, engineering and compliance decisions are made by the relevant government authority, authorised examiner, engineer or other competent authority.

We cannot guarantee that a particular vehicle will obtain registration, certification or approval.

10. Fees and Payment

The applicable price for a service will be displayed on our website, booking system or otherwise communicated to you before the service is purchased.

Additional costs, including third-party searches, travel, government charges or specialist services, may apply where disclosed and agreed.

Unless otherwise stated, fees are expressed in Australian dollars.

11. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation and rescheduling conditions applicable to a particular booked service may be displayed during booking or communicated before confirmation.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

12. Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with rights and guarantees that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law.

Nothing contained on this website, in these Terms, in a disclaimer or in any communication from Auto Experts is intended to exclude, restrict or modify a consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.

This is important because consumer guarantees for services include requirements concerning due care and skill and, in relevant circumstances, fitness for purpose and reasonable time.

13. Website Information

We take reasonable care in preparing information published on our website. However, automotive information, pricing, specifications, regulations and market conditions can change.

Website content is therefore provided for general informational purposes unless it forms part of a specifically purchased Auto Experts service.

14. External Websites and Third-Party Services

Our website may contain links to or integrate with third-party websites or services.

Those third parties operate independently of Auto Experts, and their own terms and privacy practices may apply.

15. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the Auto Experts name, branding, website design, written content, reports, graphics and other original website materials are owned by or licensed to Sydney Automobiles Pty Ltd.

They must not be reproduced, republished, commercially exploited or substantially copied without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

16. Acceptable Website Use

You must not misuse the website, attempt to interfere with its security or operation, introduce malicious software, obtain unauthorised access to systems or use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.

17. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Auto Experts is not responsible for losses resulting solely from circumstances outside our reasonable control or from decisions made contrary to, or beyond the scope of, the service or information we provided.

Nothing in this clause or these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies liability, rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

That qualification is important: the ACCC specifically states that businesses cannot contract out of applicable consumer guarantees.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in New South Wales, Australia, and applicable Commonwealth laws.

Subject to any rights concerning jurisdiction that cannot legally be excluded, disputes relating to these Terms are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts and tribunals of New South Wales and Australia.
